ANGELIC EVENING 2010

"Angels were watching over Agata" - Mariola Zaremba, President of Belvedere Charity Foundation said on Saturday night, when it was known that just in terms of the numbers of guests as well as their generosity, Saturday's Artistic Evening, organized by the foundation, was going to be successful. There was one goal - to help a 7-year old Agata Kass from Gdynia, Poland. This young girl suffers from Spinal bifida, hydrocephalus and epilepsy. She is paralyzed, but despite all the problems she develops well intellectually, and this year she began studying in an inclusive elementary school. Agata's parents are not able to cover the expenses for rehabilitation of their child as well as the equipment, which needs to be constantly replaced as the child grows. At the moment, the most important thing Agata needs is a standing frame and its cost is close to four thousand USD.
As usual with these types of events, one has to rely only on the open hearts of Polonia, which this time did not disappoint. To the late hours over 120 people were having a good time. It all began with a cabaret "Prima Aprilis " performance of their most popular and best sketches. Later an excellent recital by 2 brothers, Damian and Konrad Kulec, 12-year-old pianist Damian presented well-known songs and artists, as well as their own compositions. Lastly, an auction was held of paintings by Bogdan Kujawski and posters by Rafal Olbinski. "As Mother Teresa said, small droplets make up the ocean, I hope that these droplets which will be offered tonight will make up not an ocean but maybe a lake which will make Agatas life a bit sweeter " with this phrase Jagoda Sasak began the auction. Best price of $1,000 was achieved for a painting by B. Kujawski titled "The Secret Angel " by a buyer who wishes to remain anonymous. Second highest bid by Krzysztof Kujawski, the artists brother, whom paid $600 for the painting "Female Angel; " and Patrycja Makles-Chuchro took home "Angel in the Mist " for $500. Together the auction, raffles and free donations (since the event had free entrance) reached to four thousand USD. And this means that it's enough for Agata to have a new standing frame! The event was successful also thanks to contributions from local sponsors - - Steve Meat Market, Star Deli as well as Malgorzata and Ryszard Mierzejewski. "We are pleased that our "angel " artistic evening actually turned out to be just that, and the goal we set to achieve has been fulfilled, " - commented on the event Mariola Zaremba. All who would like to add to the contributions may still do so at our office or directly to the Belvedere Charity account.
