On November 18th 2006 Belvedere Charity organized its first auction. The auction took place in the heart of Greenpoint (Polish Methodist Church). The fundraising from the auction was intend to the Peruvian school in Huambo. |
The star of the evening was polish singer Irena Jarocka. |
She gave a great performance which set the mood for the charity auction. |
There was also a lecture by Jerzy Majcherczyk, founder of the Polish Travelers Club. He presented a short history of the Huambo village in Peru which is located close to Colca Canion discovered 25 years ago by the 6 Poles including him. |
There were around 30 pictures of famous polish artists like: Rafal Olbinski, Bogdan Kujawski, Ewa Obrochta, Piotr Sikora, Piotr Bondarczyk, Dominika Gardocka, Jacek Nowak. |
The charity featured famous painter Rafal Olbinski, who signed autographs. |
Everybody loved all the pictures, some of which were sold very quickly and with good profit. |
For example the picture of Pope John Paul II painted by Bogdan Kujawski was sold for $2,300 the greatest amount on the auction. |
We received a total of $17,835 at the end of the auction. After all the expenses were paid (such as food, artist commissions, rent, DJ), we were left with $8,224. We believe that our first charity event was a success. |

Thanks to the money raised we will help to expand and provide the school equipment to the kids in Huambo, Peru. We will also send a container with all of the donated things that were collected for the past two months. Thanks to all of the people who made a donation, we are able to send to the people in Peru things such as: clothing, bikes, toys, school material, sporting equipment, computers, electronics, TV sets, DVD, etc.
We are very glad that we reached our goal and we were able to help! |
